First established in1967 known then as IAN G catering for the new high fashion era that erupted from Carnaby St, London. In those heady days anything unconventional was in vogue if you could get it and GARDNERS got it first! Kaftans, loon pants, frilly shirts so tight the buttons would pop if you breathed out, platform shoes, flowerpower and that was for the chaps.

As fashion grew up GARDNERS continued to evolve and was responsible for introducing fashion to the men of Exeter from shops in Princesshay and The Guildhall Centre, then in 1980 was instrumental in turning Gandy St into one of the most fashionable streets outside London.

Always on the look out for new brands GARDNERS introduced to the South West such well known labels as POLO by Ralph Lauren, Henri Lloyd, Timberland and Lacoste and continues to be their premier stockist 20 years on. Many more well known brands have come and gone in that period but the store is always developing new labels and today offers exciting new jean brands like SEAL KAY and is the original and only stockist of the Lyle & Scott Vintage collection.
